Free Initial Screening
Twenty (20) minutes session to perform a speech and language screening. (please schedule your appointment in advance).

Who We Are?
Ms. Sugey A. Calderon
Sugey is the founder of Parla Speech LLC. She earned a B.A. in speech-language pathology and audiology from Universidad Del Valle (Cali, Colombia) and a master’s degree in Communication and Science Disorders from Howard University. She is licensed to practice in DC, MD, and VA. Sugey holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in speech-language pathology and a certificate as a bilingual special educator from George Washington University; additionally, she is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and was recipient of the 2021, and 2022 ASHA Award for Continuing Education (ACE) in recognition of continued professional study.
For the last 18 years, she has been working with bilingual clients (Spanish/English) in Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, and Texas. She specializes in the identification, assessment, treatment, and consultation of bilingual clients with language, articulation, and literacy disorders.
Ms. Melissa S. Resto
Melissa earned her B.A. in English as a second language and elementary education at the University of Puerto Rico and a master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. Melissa holds a CCC in speech-language pathology and is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
During her professional career, Melissa has had the opportunity to work with a variety of populations and disorders. She has worked with children ranging from middle school age to elementary and early
intervention.
Mission:
Parla Speech LLC’s mission is to improve the communication and educational experience for children, youth, and families with speech and language disabilities through language enrichment, offering in-person or virtual services that promote social, cognitive, emotional, and language development.
